The creative digital studio from award-winning digital art director
HGF was looking for a business-changing digital solution to match its ambitions for growth. It sought out a visually-striking website that would differentiate it from the rest of the market.
Working with HGF’s brand partner Lee Goater, our studio developed a modern, responsive platform with a fresh, sector-leading design that, since launch, has seen monthly traffic double and conversions increase significantly.
Our studio acted as creative lead in developing the new front-end development strategy for one of the most popular e-commerce sites in the UK, Matalan.co.uk.
Working with Matalan’s in-house UX team, we developed solutions to retain and improve the site’s conversion rate and user experience, taking into account the restrictions of existing tech. New, clean site-wide designs were also produced in collaboration with the UX team to accompany the front-end development strategy.
We teamed up with Matalan to help the brand develop its new furniture website, Matalan Direct. Our studio led internal teams to develop a brand for the new proposition, as well as a look and feel for the new website supported by thorough user journeys and appropriate technology recommendations.
I love working on new brand propositions. The concept of boiling down the purpose, mission or culture of an organisation, product or campaign into a number of easily-understood visual elements is at the core of what I love about the language of design.
From campaigns to reduce crimes in inner cities, international media brands & local social enterprises, I have worked with them all. If you have something interesting to say, then I am sure we can work together.
Children’s bedroom furniture supplier Room to Grow asked us to help develop both its brand and its relationship with its audience, using our experience and creativity to offer something different to previous digital campaigns.
With the help of animation studio Hungry Sandwich Club, we created a series of downloadable, printable vinyl wall stickers, perfect to adorn the walls of any child’s bedroom. We produced everything from the original illustrative look and feel to the supporting web page and the assets proved to be a great success for the brand, driving press coverage and audience engagement.
We worked with gaming comparison site Casino Reviews to produce an interactive experience detailing the biggest heists to ever take place on UK soil.
Our studio developed the original concept featuring an innovative photography style using classic railway models and diecast cars. Every element of this project was carried out in-house, from concept to photography, through to interface design and front-end development.
New York Times-bestselling author Reif Larsen came to us to create an interactive adventure to complement the release of his second novel, I Am Radar.
Working closely with Reif, Gaz and the team developed a micro story built around the themes of the novel. Mixing audio, gaming, illustration and interactions. The finished work used immersive visual storytelling to allow users to explore the motifs and moods presented in the novel in an original and compelling fashion.
Leeds Empty Homes, an organisation committed bringing long-term vacant properties back into use, asked us to help tell the story of how social enterprises Latch, Canopy and Gipsil had restored 46 empty properties since 2012.
We produced illustrations and a storyboard for the resulting video in-house before teaming up once more with motion graphics studio Hungry Sandwich Club to bring our ideas to life.
I am a designer & digital marketing specialist with 14 years worth of proven web & creative experience.
Working with my clients to help them gain an understanding of their space on the web, their target audience, competitors & opportunities. Using this knowledge, I design attractive solutions to connect all these elements together.
Passionate about the possibilities the web provides in terms of connections. My work gives clients the tools they need to engage & interact with as many people as possible, either through a great website, award-winning content, or a well-rounded digital marketing strategy.
I’ll consult, plan, learn, design, execute, measure, re-learn, re-design, & execute again. All to get the best result though evidence - not guess work.
Larger agencies just can’t work at this speed or detail. But, an agile one-man team who understands the digital market you exist in, with the ability to react quickly, can.
It has been this mix of practical creativity & knowledge that has allowed me to be lucky enough to work with these organisations over the years.
I make simple & easy-to-use sites that users love to interact with, mixing technical & creative know-how to take advantage of the best of web technology to make a unique & memorable experience.
Unrivalled content is key to your site's success & I have been producing award-winning content for clients for the past six years, from tweets and microsites to infographics, data visualisation & great blog posts. Let me help you understand your audience & produce content that will support your digital marketing strategies - either by increasing traffic or social engagement.
I have spent the best part of ten years leading creative studios. From that time I have gained a detailed understanding of how to get the best out of a creative team. From communicating & understanding clients' goals to producing a culture of creativity, experimentation & clarity that has produced award-winning results. Working with clients to understand their briefs, challenging them when required & communicating concepts are all key elements to successful creative direction.
Technology & the web do not have to be a knowledge gap within any organisation. Many concepts such as SEO, social media marketing, CRO & content marketing strategies are all rather simple once you get the right people & culture in place. If you are planning your new website or thinking about how to start down this path let me know & I’ll be happy to help - no question too small or daft. We all have to start somewhere, & my goal is to make you self-sufficient as quickly as possible, using as little budget as possible.
Having worked in the third sector & with social enterprises at many points in my career, I am keen to keep supporting these important organisations. I provide all consulting to small charities and social enterprises for free, giving them the advice & support they would not have access to otherwise. If you work for a charity or social enterprise & you think I can help, please get in touch - I would be delighted to assist.
I bring passion, experience, creativity & fun to every project, so I am looking to work with people who feel the same about the service or project they provide.
